Add center console to 83 cab

Is it possible or has anyone added a center console to an 83 911 SC cab?

Aside from the heater levers, It's a little naked in the middle

Elu, is your model Porsche one that had the Heater levers in the center? if so, how did you change? Also, where is the parking brake?

BigchillCar, can you point in some direction?

not sure, but i'd bet that a search using 'center console' or 'add center console' will turn something up.

Elu,

How do you like that console? I've been looking at those but was concerned about the quality and how easy it is to use the handbrake and heater controls. Is it hard to install

The center console is the best way to cover the heater lever and parking brake void. It is at betterbodies like scott said. The parking brake is below the sliding panel. You just slide it back and there you have access to the brake and heater/throttle.

It was a piece of cake to install, however, you are going to have to figure that one out on your own as there are no mounting instructions or hardware furnished with the unit. I used angle brackets and screwed them into the inside of the new console and then I cut a small slit in the floor carpet and drilled a pilot hole so that the bracket could screw/mount to the floor board/tunnel. Two brackets in the front and two in the back worked out great. It is very clean install and the quality of their products is excellent. You would have to remove the seats to do the installation because you have to have access to the seatbelts. They have a couple of access holes in the console to get the seat belt receiver through, and you may need to tighten up the slider panel glides. Mine was delivered with loose bolts. But in short, I love it. It finishes up that ugly middle area.

If any of you guys buy the product and you have any questions or need support with it, just hit me up. I'll take some pictures and draw some diagrams. It was pretty easy. Also, I wanted to make one more note, that specific console was discontinued and they came up with a new model. It's still basically the same just a little different at the controls console area. You will have to drill your own holes for whatever controls you have down at the console area. I mounted my AC controls in it and it took a little time to grind down the fiberglass resin to get the control switch post to go through enough for me to put the mounting nut and washers on. The new console might be easier.

Here's a picture of the new console they came up with.

Hey Randy...

if I had to guess about weight I would say somewhere around 10 to 15 pounds after carpet and letherette. But again, it's just a guess. I don't worry too much about weight, heck I have all the perks in my car, AC, Stereo, Amps, Subs, Console. Mine is definately not a racer...more of a looker with spunk.
