Two quick questions
I had 3 bad injectors, were replaced with working used injectors around 7 months ago: would there be any advantage in replacing all of the injectors with new ones in this case?
If so, are there any injectors I can use as substitute that aren't so #$#T#^ expensive? ------------------ Kurt B 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet 75 914 1.8 |

Kurt,
I have read quite a few SCs posting what a difference new injectors make for them. I have been reluctant to change mine as well because of the $ factor. I have tried four different brands of "pour the bottle in" type injector cleaners without much of a difference. Let me know if you find a solution. ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera |

Try some stuff called BG 44K. Its about 5x as powerful as Techron or anything else you can buy. If this doesn't do it, nothing will and I'd start looking at new injectors.
Call around to parts stores and ask if they carry BG products, not many do. It costs about $20, but worth every penny. Put some thru my SC and it felt like a different engine! Nick. ------------------ __________ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe |

You can always have your injectors professionally cleaned. This requires their removal and being subjected to a detailed process that both cleans and meters their flow. I had 6 BOSCH red strip (40 lbs. each) injectors cleaned like this at a cost of about $100.00 It made a HUGE difference, especially at idle.
The BG products are some of the best on the market, however, they are not sufficient for high mileage cleaning. They must pass through the tank, pump, filter, and other component, many of which are rubber. They are therefor unable to be a strong as a dedicated cleaner. While I do in fact use them about twice a year (gas and oil treatments) there is no comparison to the professional method. It should be noted that I had my Red Strips professionally done only because I run leaded race gas through them and they clog before the BG can really do any good. |

Bosch makes a vacume cleaner to back flush and clean the CIS system and lines. Why put clean injectors in a dirty system.
