Stranded. Car won't start (it doesn't turn over)...

The solenoid comes with the starter....SR68X....

Still should consider the ignition replacement.

I am going to do the ignition switch too.

There are two starters available from Pelican. They are "rebuilt Bosch" ($173) and "high torque" ($249). Which do I get? Will one last longer or perform better?

One requires a core and is the same price as the "new" one without. I've never used the high torque one but have heard good things.

As an example...my last "rebuilt" came with a card good for one free tow if the starter failed. Didn't give a warm fuzzy feeling.

9.5+ out of 10, it's the starter, if it won't start hot, but starts after cooling down.

I would take the expert advice and check into your starter, BUT

I had the exact same problem last year in my '72. When hot, no cranky. After sitting an hour or two, started up like a dream.

I was very close to replacing my starter (and I probably will anyway), but I had a hunch and pulled my tiny miata battery and went back to two interstates in parallel. Haven't had a problem since. Perhaps my miata battery didn't have the nuts to turn that hot almost binding starter.

That said, It's probably a temporary solution and I'll be buying a starter soon.

Glad you didn't have to tow, though!
