Is mirror switch easy to replace?

I just bought my first Porsche last week. '83 911SC Cab. All oirig. Beautiful! The only thing not working are the mirrors. It appears to be the switch. Joystick seems loose and neither move at all. I was going to buy a new one, but didn't know how hard it is to replace. I don't want to bring to a mechanic, but don't want to buy a new switch just to find that isn't the problem and I have to take to a mech anyway.

Is the switch an easy replacement? If that doesn't fix it, what else should I look for before I take to mechanic? Any advice??

Extremely easy to replace. Just note which wire goes where before removing the old one. Be careful when extracting the old one not to pull to hard and disconnect the wires before being able to look at them.

Make sure you also check the rocker switch on the dash which controls the L/R mirror adjustment. Its located to the left of the steering column, under the tach.

I too thought my joystick was gone - turns out the switch was in the middle so neither left nor right mirror had a complete circuit.

And yes, the joystick is simple to replace. Just make sure you note which wires go where.

Check your fuses as well to make sure you've not got a blown fuse.
