turn signal question

besides my headlight washers which ill likely never bother diagnosing, the last little annoying thing i need to sort out is the turn signal self-cancelling.

sometimes they cancel, but usually they dont. if they do, its usually when i turn right, and, if they do, its when i turn the wheel practically 360 degrees.

Ive taken off the wheel and found the cancelling tab. it is still in place and looks ok.

Ive also simulated a cancellation by engaging the sigal up or down and clicked the little white tab with a screwdriver and it cancells no problem.

my assumption, being new to this car, is that the tab has been worn thin from 25 years of signalling.

any ideas? can i make the tab a little thicker with a slice of duct tape? is there an inexpensive tab replacement? could it be something else?

thanks alot
-Scott
