Question M&k, bypass, chip installed – but maybe problem…

I just got my new M&K 1 in 2 out, Steve Wong chip and cat bypass installed! in my Stock 85 carrera

First: the car is to loud! Would a cap help? Any suggestions?

Second: Seems to be is less torque. The throttle response is better and from 1500 to 3500 it is a bit quicker…but…the torque that threw me back in my seat at 3500 to 6000 isn’t there anymore…any ideas? could there be a back pressure issue? Meaning not enough with dual outlets? Could it be a chip problem?

I have spoke to Steve and he is going to look at the mapping of the old chip

Anyone experience similar symptoms?

Here, let me move your post.

I think you'll have more luck getting answers in the 911 forum; not too many of us 914 folk have injected 3.2s in our cars. (I wish!! )

You mention that basically the pull is better from 1500 to 3500 but doesn't seem as strong from 3500 and beyond. What I'm very sure you are feeling is a more linear power curve. Instead of having a relatively weak pull from 1500 to 3500 RPM and then suddenly coming alive with power above that RPM (the rush you feel), the engine is developing more torque down in the lower part of the RPM range and continuing it's strong, but more linear, pull to the redline. Engines with more torque and HP down low in the powerband tend to feel like they have a more steady pull from low RPM to redline than engines with all of their power in the middle and upper RPM ranges. There's no frenetic "rush" of power. It's just there all the time. Peak power is still as high, if not higher than before but it's masked by the relatively higher power in the lower part of the powerband where it was lacking before.

Does that make sense?

the 1 in 2 outs are TOO loud part of the reason they are NLA . cap the one side and you will be happy with the sound
