Bumper pads

Here is a solution that can be reversed if you chose to and does not require painting

Banker, good show, so those are just smaller rubber pads? Did you make or source?

Does anyone make or considered making replica US bumperettes in fiberglass or poly-something that would give the appearance, have a tag light mount but not have the 8lb weight? Ken

Ha - you anti-bumper-tit guys really crack me up (especially the ones that leave the outer rubber strips when they remove the pads - looks ridiculous)! People should do as they wish to their cars, but sometimes I just have to point and laugh!

I also had the bumpers milled from the inside out so they are a bit lighter than stock. I used euro crush tubes vs. the US hydraulic ones for more weight reduction - the entire assembly is fairly light, front and rear while retaining good crash protection.

The valence is a club sport valence and I welded the plate holes in on that as well.
Have you had any unwanted attention by the Law for not running a front plate? I had the front plate bracket break and was pulled over before I had it replaced. The only thing that saved me from a ticket was I carried the dirty license plate with me in the front floorboard and the trooper believed my story.

It has not been a problem but my car is not used as a daily driver so that significantly cuts down on the time the car is on the road...also with antique tags I think they have better things to do...

I think the bumpers look good with the strips and no bumperettes. Much better than having growths hanging off of them.

If anyone thought that when Porsche first designed this car he had huge US mandated "low impact" (as in does nothing for any real crash protection above 10 mph but was needed to get approval by the US) bumpers on it, so be it. Always looked like an afterthought to me, always will. Nice Job with the mods and I like what the front bumper looks like also. Looks like I got another project.

The front turn signal housings and larger lower holes feed twin Carrera coolers. I made a pair of f/g housings that fit over the front of the coolers. The smaller holes feed the front brakes. On the rear, I glassed the lower part of the bumper to wrap around a muffler I made.

Thanks to you and kicking off the idea I got the rear done and my local paint shop worked with me on the idea for the front. They didn't have the expertise in house for the tig part so a guy that worked there had them send it to his buddies NASCAR shop for the filler welding part. Just send it anywhere that they can tig - well.

Yeah, I have a habit of a lot of short answer posts, mostly from the time I ventured to the dark side of the forum (OFF-TOPIC)... doesn't matter. Not wasting my time with you. Keep your bumpers stock and enjoy your car. Hopefully you take it out of the garage once in a while.
