Take a look at these sparkplugs please
Hi guys,
The car is a 73 911 with 2.4 mfi I'm right in the middle of a service and i noticed this... These are the plugs i was given at the shop, under inspection they are 2mm longer than the old ones. Are these plugs going to bash a hole in the top of the piston or will they clear? as always many thanks in advance ![]()

I'm no plug expert, but it looks to me like these are different heat ranges and I would not put them in until triple checking with various sources and turning the engine over by hand before starting.

these are the plugs Porsche specifies for this application:
999 170 128 90 extended tip, old school, wire electrode. resists the typical fouling, but they are $14.00 each from our host. Bill K

Those plugs are just fine,...
![]() The extended tip design helps keep them clean.

The stock plugs are a projected type like the one on the right, the other's not. I've used both and not noticed any difference.

The only thing I don't like about the plug on the right is that it isn't NGK :-)

I know its better, its a Bosch. Bosch plugs also don't blow through the ceramic like NGK and Champions do.
