Well now, Just gotta post this from a recent Rennlist thread :) :

“As an old Porsche 911 guy I can tell you that in fact the term "SC" did in fact stand for Super Carrera. Super Carrera was always reserved for the pinnicle of development of the Porsche sports car, and the term was first coined on the 356 SC,--Super Carrera. As factory interest in the 911 was waning in the late 1970s the car was dubed the 911SC for Super Carrera,--as far as it would ever go in development. When Porsche AG hired American Peter W. Schutz he immediatedly sensed the stupidity of killing off the cash cow of the company and immediately injected R&D money into the 911 line instead of following the masses at Zuffenhausen who were going with water cooled and front engined designs. His sense was spot on and the rest is history

Yes. 911 SC stands for Super Carrera. It was to be the last of the 911s, until a boost in development led to the 1983 911SC Cabriolet and following that, the 3.2 Carrera automobiles.

Schutz turned the company around,--doubling sales and increasing after-tax profits ten-fold.”
________________________________________________
“Ah Ha!

So then in fact, Porsche, in keeping with using model designations to indicate the qualitative hierarchy in their cars, deleted the S (Super) from the name of the 911SC's successor, the (NOT Super) Carrera!!”
________________________________________________

“There you go! (Actually, the "Carrera" 3.2 began in the marketing world of Porsche after they decided to keep the 911 line going.)

Further evidence of this is seen in every '911' since the 911SC. Every model of 911 has been given a name instead of a number.”

I also really like the above pirate logo with the crest and would purchase several of what ever you produced of this logo as well.

SCWDP911 06-22-2007 05:46 AM

we'll just need to clean it up first...

cashflyer 06-22-2007 06:13 AM

Didn't somebody here already have a Porsche crest with skull in the middle?
No bad days graphics, perhaps?

Maybe they would let you use their art, gratis.

Moke81 06-22-2007 07:14 AM

I like all, don't know about the skull crossbones though.
Did'nt I also read in earlier threads about hood badges too?

Yeah, we're still working on the "stinking badges"...

They have the artwork... awaiting the mockup.

I don't want to be a pirate

I'm in for another round of design #2 (I have a black tshirt with white design from the last round someone did).

I like the oval design also.

I don't want to be a pirate ;-)

Moses 06-22-2007 12:59 PM

I AM a pirate! Aaaarrgh!

If you do the pirate with the crest, I want two of everything!

KWIQSLVR 06-22-2007 01:47 PM

I really am a pirate, see:

Gumba11 06-22-2007 03:06 PM

Nice costume, I did that a year before last.

thomschoon 06-22-2007 05:13 PM

I would take a couple of shirts to add to my collection, some more stickers would also be great so the word can continue to be spread

SCWDP911 06-27-2007 08:39 PM

and yet another stinkin' idea...

had some time today while I was sick, to ponder the plot. Came up with this new design... (p.s. hope to hear back from printer tomorrow to get the presses rolling)

[try to disregard the black stuff outside the oval:rolleyes: ]

Sorry, but what does the German translate to?
Walter's shaft handler? That's wouldn't be good.

Oh man....ROTF:eek:

It is actually "world domination action". I guess action and plot are close enough to same for the Germans...

Walter's ... nevermind...

jaydubya 06-28-2007 07:45 AM

I was talking with Shane about something like this for the hood on my race car:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183045283.jpg

(sorry my photoshop skills are limited).

Basically it would go on the hood between the two seams that run down the hood lengthwise - see red box in photo below:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183045539.jpg

Anyone else interested?

SCWDP911 06-28-2007 08:21 AM

Jaydub,

I like this idea of yours more and more - even though you called me Steve! Ha!

We could do this in the vinyl graphics material, or maybe a magnetized material...

jaydubya 06-28-2007 08:24 AM

Vinyl would be my preference. I've had bad luck with long-term use of magnetic numbers...

Cheers,

Jeff

SCWDP911 06-28-2007 08:30 AM

10-4

Also, for everyone, I am getting some of the final designs back from the badge maker. It iwll come down to 2 probably, and once decided, i think he said it would take about 3 weeks.

fty 06-28-2007 08:19 PM

I'm up for whatever...I'm just proud to BE SCWDP...muhhahahahaa........first stickers..then the world...:)

qcwang 06-28-2007 10:41 PM

Thanks Shane!

Badges

Got the badge work down to the nitty gritty. They have three designs submitted that they are massaging. Once they are done, they will shoot me back the artwork for final approval. This one is probably what will end up final product...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183118593.jpg

or this...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183118623.jpg

Here is the deal on badges. I have to have a minimum order of 40 to get them done. So I will initially just do one design. The stickers will be a different story, and I will have a bigger variety for you to choose from. Still have not heard orm my printer, so hopefully that will happen today.

Finally, what does everyone think about using the german translation for "world domination plot" - "weltherrschafthandlog"?
I thought the idea was kind of cool, but some have brought up that it kind of looks like "waltersshafthandling". We certainly do NOT want to give the "others" fodder for their cannons!:D

Ron.G 06-29-2007 04:39 AM

I like the English version myself.
Put me down for one please.

cashflyer 06-29-2007 04:49 AM

As badges, I like this style. I have not quite made up my mind which of the two I like best, though - probably the English one with the date. The German word just doesn't match up to the WDP lettering. And there's that thing about Walter.....

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183121157.jpg

Any chance they are pin-back with proper spacing to substitute them for the Porsche crest on the hood? :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... now that is an excellent idea as well... Can you provide me with the exact measurements? I am almost sure we could get the posts wherever they need to be, but the only issue will be if they can do that without having to order another set of 40. Well, here's this: we could get the badge to wear two hats: I can ask the manufacturer to make the mounting studs the right size to fit in the alotted mounting holes for those that want to put it up front. But, the same mounting studs will be long enough to properly secure it to the grille as well. Those mounting on the hood in place of the crest would just have to cut off the mounting studs a bit in length. Great suggestion Cash! I just need the exact dimensions to give to the guy. Can someone provide so I do not have to take mine off to measure?

Kroggers 06-29-2007 05:01 AM

This is all good - count me in....

If nobody gets to it sooner, I'll measure mine after work today.

porkee 06-29-2007 05:15 AM

v8,
I vote for the Super Carrera. That way, I probably won't be asked again "What's the SC stand for? Super Charged?"
You could probably drop the date too, IM $.02 O.

SCWDP911 06-29-2007 05:17 AM

OK guys, please vote at this poll...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=354611

SCWDP911 06-29-2007 05:19 AM

Mark, I understand the date thing. I have been on the fence with it myself, but for me it came down to this: possibilty of annual badges. I think a new design each year might be enough, but I lean towards the date, kind of like the Old Navy thing...

wilke3169 06-29-2007 06:05 AM

I just voted on the poll. I noticed after that it is a virtual tie early in the voting. Just my opinion but I like them both. They are both well done and a great add for anyone involved in the plot.

Thanks a ton for your efforts,
Kevin

Moke81 06-29-2007 06:59 AM

V8, Thanks in advance, can't wait to see final project. Put me on the list.

SCWDP Badge Poll Part 2 - Added another choice due to input from crowd!

[B]I asked Noah to delete the first poll. Please revote. Thanks

OK, gang. Time to be brave and nail down the Super Carrera thing! Seriously, forgetting about the seemingly dark mysteries of the true meaning of SC (perhaps Geraldo can uncover it someday like he did with Al Capone's thing), I need to get a vote here on whether we go with "Porsche 911SC" or "Super Carrera" on the top of the ring on the badge design. Like these:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183137152.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183137182.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183137203.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1183137223.jpg

My personal vote is Porsche 911 Super Carrera, and here is why... We have "World Domination Plot" spelled out below because that is for the WDP, so it seems to flow better for me that SC is also spelled out. I'll leave it to minds more brilliant to continue the debate on whether Super Carrera is accurate or not. I just like it regardless. And that is kind of the crux of this whole deal anyway, isn't it... That's just my opinion, but keep in mind it was free, and might be worth what you paid!

cashflyer 06-29-2007 09:21 AM

Although I already voted for SC, your logic for spelling it out seems reasonable.

SCWDP911 06-29-2007 09:25 AM

I asked Noah to delete the first poll. Please revote. Thanks

spencejm 06-29-2007 09:52 AM

I realize that I'm jumping in pretty late but I'm down with sticker, shirts and possibly a banner if they're available.

Joe
