Oil Temperature Sensor / Sender....question...
I received my new numeric oil temp gauge, and sender.....question is: Do I have to drain oil to remove the old sender and install the new one, or, on a cold motor, can I remove the sender without having a gusher?
TIA

Frank....
I haven't tried it yet.....I was planning on doing it tonight.....the car is cold, my real question was "If I do not drain the oil, when I remove the old sender, will it leak oil?".......
Now I will look more closely at your link to see what I may experience...... Is the gauge an easy job? What is required? Thanks, Mark

Nope you'll be fine. I took my oil sender out for repair after nicking the windings while fishing out multiple dipsticks from the tank (long story). When cold, the oil level drops below the senders "hole" in the side of the tank. Even the workshop manual says you can do it without draining tank.
