Spark plug Wire arcing
A week ago I took a little ride and stopped at a relative's house for an hour. Came back out, fired her up and she ran real rough.
Messed around for a week looking at possible fuel problems. It was backfiring out of the exhaust and running rough. Thought maybe would have to get valves adjusted. Yesterday found one spark plug wire arcing at the base of the tube where it widens to go over the head of the plug. I'm pretty sure that's where the problem is at this point. It's a '73 911T 2.4L with K-Jetronic, I'm going to buy a new set of plug wires but was wondering which set to buy. I looked at what PP has to offer and the ones that are shown in the pictures for genuine Porsche look exactly like the ones that are in my car, which have worked fine for years, but the description says not for CIS cars. Anyone have some advice? ![]() |

Try the search key. Type in ignition cables. Enter.

For years CIS cars used cables w/ a braided steel sheathing because the factory thought that would stop airbox explosions. Since it turns out the type of cable has no effect on this, you can go w/ other "standard" types of cables, which are often less pricey.
BTW do you have an airbox popoff valve? If not, you should definitely get one.

Ohh Yeah! Have had the popoff since I bought it 5 years ago. Engine total rebuild 4 years ago. The girl pretty much screams when called upon to do so, just every once in a while needs a little TLC.
