Lightbulb Upgrade available for Black Widow Keyless Entry Systems

Called Black Widow technical support last week to see if it would be possible to extend the antenna wire to get better range with the remote.

The answer was no. HOWEVER, I found out that BW makes an extended range antenna. Cover pops off, old antenna lead is unpluged and new one plugs in. Part is ERM1 or ERM2 (two diff models - cosmetic not functional diff as I understood)

These part #'s do not show on BW's website, you've got to call to order. I've got one on order and will post a follow-up with the results. Part cost is $18.00

ERM2 Extended Range Antenna arrived today. Antenna lead is 8 ft. hopefully long enough to run from trunk to back side of rear window pillar behind the seat belt harness for a nice stealthy install.

Well, the Black Widow model #BW-854 does not appear to be compatiable with the ERM2..........no internal plug for the new antenna. The old antenna lead is soldered to the board. New antenna has a 3 wire plug??? Will call BW technical support tomorrow to see if there is a solution.

SUCCESS! Called BW technical support and they explained that the entire antenna board comes off (shown below) and the new antenna plugs in (white plug to white socket).

My range was pretty crappy before...maybe 10-15 feet at best in front of car and no range behind the car. Just tested the new extended range antenna and it worked from 475 feet!
