One last A/C removal question..

Last year I removed the A/C in my 86' 911:

A/C Removal has begun - a few questions though

One last thing I was wondering about was the wiring in the smuggler's box.

The unplugged connector with the brown / red+white wiring I think went to the evaporator.

Can I remove and/or unplug any of the other wires in the photos?

Thanks in advance,
Kato

The other connector goes to the thermo (bi-metallic) switch located under the passenger side floorboard. You can disconnect it or leave it. Probably not worth the trouble to remove it though. You or someone might want to reinstall the AC one day.

That sucker weighs at least .035 pounds ! I removed the bi-metallic switch (and wires) and fashioned a "plate" to cover up the hole in the floorboard.

I have just removed the cable too and you can do it without cutting or removing the tank by unplugging it from the bundle of wires near the fuel filler and also to un-hook 1 earth from the same place.

Once these are unplugged you can pull the rest of the cable through into the smugglers box.

Dont' cut anything! Even if you don't remove the bi-metallic switch, unplug the wires from it and put it back in place...

You are referring to the connector black into white with the brown+green+red/white wires? (not the one behind it)

Re: the one behind it - It's the one where you can see one red wire going in and it plugs into that silvery metallic thing. What is that one for?

That is the A/C evaporator motor relay. It too can be disconnected and removed.

Ok .... so .... all of the wiring in the pics is A/C related and can be disconnected and / or removed?

Ok ... removed the wiring to the console and the relay. Incidentally I had cut the wiring from the console and didn't realize that it was basically sitting inside the grommet at the bottom of the smuggler's box.

I decided to leave the wiring from battery/ground just in case I want to wire in some electronics of some sort later.

My next question is regarding the other side of the smuggler's box.

Other than the cut A/C hose & steering thing-a-ma-bob, is there anything A/C related in the photo?

Cheers,
Kato

Re: pic in previous post...

Can anyone tell me what those two copper lines are for?

Is that black wire for the fuel pump?
