71E engine compartment color????
I have a 71E, currently black, that I'm getting ready for painting back to it's original silver color. The engine compartment is currently black and appears to be original. Can anybody verify if the engine compartment for the 71 was body color or black? (my research says black, but....)

Yes, semi-gloss/satin black is the correct finish. Usually there is a good deal of body color showing though, as the black went on last and was usually not carefully applied. I didn't replicate this feature when I painted mine! -Scott

Scott are correct for your 71, satin black over body colour over undercoating(Wurth SKS).
