Yep, ok didn't look like it had anything in it sorry your right it could be bigger check placement and enlarge it takes alot of stress from the top tension. not to big or your new trim won't fit. good luck.

Glad to help a nice German duppledark would be fine right now!

Last one for you before I order from east wood... want that stuff gone under there... does this look like all I need:
are these the things I need? Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Black Aerosol 16 oz Seam Sealer Black Ultra Flex Rubberized Undercoating Aerosol 18oz I have wire brush and sandpaper... Once I get the parts and get this cleaned up... Ill figure out how to get that ridge in there... :) |
Sorry I just read the rest of the post parts 11 and 12 are the tensioning bars the rails I refer to are in the pics I posted start out on the outside of the bracket and curve in to the middle of the flat part of the panel top the seal has a notch that will fit over this when it curves in and the short tab that is my first pic with the rivets is a piece that holds the seal in place where it glues into the longer part of the seal that goes around the back of the top also yep on the products from eastwood
|
cool deal, eastwood items on the way. Im out for the evening.. thank you agn, and if you think of anything else that may help me out please let me know.

OK Guys...
I have all my parts, except the ones I need from group911... My question is first I see I need to have that lip for the base gasket but before I get started would someone be so kind to show me an inside shot of the area where the base gasket sits with the trim removed so I can see how the frame of the top sits on the gasket? Please??? I will post pics if needed to show the area I need a pic of but if you remove the #6 trim parts to reveal the bolts of the cab top frame I need to see all that area where the gasket sits and the top screws in.... :) |
|
Mike look back thru all the posts there are all the pictures you should need to put that rib on.
|
how about this... you see in this pic the tensioner that comes through that has an extra bolt... boes that go on top or on bottom? Just trying to decrease the gap between my top and body a bit... if I can.. I am thinking my top could be shrunken a bit but not sure?
see pic: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186877901.jpg Should that bracket be on top like it is or below the main cab top bracket? I would like for there to be less of a gap but not sure if I can decrease it or now??? Thnx man you never said if your car was ready for paint or not??? :) |
Do you have 4 holes or 3 holes like I have I'm thinking that if you have 4 holes its been modified.
|
its exactly like your pic... 3 mounting holes and one small one for that bracket I am talking about... Does that bracket go on top (which is what I think it should be) or does it go on bottom?
|
That bracket doesn't go anywhere the expensive trim piece you have bought goes in that hole look at the parts diagram there is no bracket like that anywhere I would get rid of it and try to put it together per factory spec.
|
I am not shure what you mean? That bracket is made into my top.... the part you see that is bolted the the main bracket goes to a bar that runs to the back...
see pic: the bar that is connected runs the length os the red line... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186886608.jpg |
Really! it doesnt show up in any diagrams. Anybody else that has later roofs do you have this bracket? my early roof does not have it. the leather trim you have will cover that gap and the seal will plug the hole between the body and the canvas or at least should. What have you got installed so far? you might try test fitting what you have to see if you still have a gap or you can try massageing the bracket you have to hold the canvas down tighter to the body but I'm pretty sure it doesn't go under the folding top frame unless there is a indent made for it there the flange needs to bolt down flat against the body.
|
I just sent an email to a dismantler to check and see if other cars have this bracket so I can get them also it makes sense that they would hold the flap down against the body and help make the seal. Does your top (canvas) touch the top of your fender even with pushing it down?
|
if I push the outside lip it will barley touch the fender... but I am just sued to seeing closer tolerances with things like this. I can make it work one way or the other but I really want to restore this car to as close to factory specs as I can... This is why I was hoping we could find someone with a factory cab that would be willing to remove there inside trim and take some pics for us....
I have a few other pending items I need to work out (still need to fix that switch between the seats and I need a restrictor valve for my oil tank so my car does not die when I remove the oil cap)... Once I have these things taken care of I will start my cab trim project.... Until then I really need to find someone with a factory cab that is willing to help us out... That part that is made in the top is part #1 on the diagram in this thread.... :) |
I'll get a pic today.
|
First off this has been a learning experience for both of us and you have taught me things about the cab. top that I would never have known about if I hadn't helped on this thread for that I thank you. Now for more important things #1 on your diagram is actually the part right behind your left most arrow with the adjusting screw on it also the part that bolts down with that 6mm stud and the part the expensive trim screws down to.
|
Here is what your bracket look like without the top around it. If it's factory that is.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186928277.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186928406.jpg |
is there any way you can get a side shot of that part... that is what I am looking for... If you look at it it runs from the rear to the bolt in the front (I would like to see how close it is to the body lip that the gasket sits on) As you see with my pic that part is about a half inch to one inch above my body and I would like to see what the original part looks like in comparison. If mine is a lot higher I need to figure out a way to fix it or compensate so it looks as close to factory as I can get it with out replacing anything major. I will look on line later today to see if I can locate anything.... other wise please let me know, but those are the shots I need but need to see distance between that bracket and body to compare mine...
Thanks man, you guys have been a lot of help from the get go... I am wondering if I can tweak that part so it moves the cab material closer to the body???? |
