Points---ignitor ???

Hi,
I want to get rid of the finicky points in my 73t 2.4 w/Zeniths and go with the pertronix ignitor,,My question is which one ?They offer 2 for 73..
They divide the 73 & 73.5 at May ?
My vin is 0327
Bosch dist 231 169 008
I have the MSD 6A.
and MSD Blaster SS coil
Magnacore red wires
Hope that covers everything.
Thanks in advance.

Question

Pertronix doesnt offer the igniter for the Bosch 008 distributor,,, and I'm not sold on the Crane(search button has revealed good/bad). With the MSD 6 A and SS coil I'm running I seem to quickly burn up the points...Is the aftermarket ignition causing this or Is there a resistor I'm missing that could remedy it ? If so What type and where does it install ? Any input appretiated,, P.o. installed the system as per the MSD diagram.. Thanks.

I have no hard answer to your unusual problem.

I dumped the resistor Beru plug wires and stock rev limiting rotor. I use magnacore wires and the 72-77 VW non-rev limiting rotor, pelican pn Bos-0403. If your going to a local parts store then the 04038 pn made by Bosch should suffice.

I also have the SS MSD coil without any resistor. I completely rewired the stock positive MSD feed w/10ga marine.

A wild guess is that the points have a poor ground if you've eliminated the problem, imo, Beru wires and rev limiting rotor already.

the points are grounded inside the dizzy. There maybe a crimp connector at the wire between the movable point plate and the housing. "Crimp" in like a piece of brass tube squashed at both ends instead of solder. The dizzy body is mostly grounded through the bolt and fastener unless there is a ground wire attached to the outside housing.

again, only a wild guess.
