Rearview mirror double sided tape

Has anyone found a source for Black double sided tape to mount the inside rear view mirror??

I'm sick and tired of looking at the white tape through the windshield

Go to any auto parts store that also sells paint. Ask for the double sided 3M molding and trim tape.

I tried that but it was too narrow, do you know of a tape that's wide enough without having to double up on the backside of the mirror???

My strong advice is to give up on it and get the slightly newer rearview mirror - everything is identical except the base is a standard style round metal disk that glues to the windshield. I tried every combination to get those things to last, and nothing did: heat base, heat glass, heat both, put on base first, put on glass first. Nothing.

Heck, even the 1973 Porsche 911 brochure I have shows bubbles in the foam sticker against the windshield!!!
