DIY rustproofing using LPS3

I have had great results with using LPS3 to keep corrosion off of any steel car part. I use it under the hood, in the doors, underneath, etc. I buy it by the gallon.

As it dries, it forms a tough waxy coating.

In exposed areas, it lasts a year or two. In contained areas, it seems to last forever.

I've definitely seen it completely halt corrosion in progress.

Where did you buy the LPS3? In Ann Arbor or online?

We use that stuff on machined surfaces when we ship overseas. It works really well, even saltwater won't cause corrosion when you properly coat something with it.

I bought it online from some aircraft supply place. Given the cost of airplanes, owners really take care of theirs.

The LPS Procyon product looks interesting too. The description says it dries to a hard transpaent finish. Does anyone have experience with it?

FYI, Grainger (www.grainger.com) sells it for about $12/can.

Also, a distributor list is available at http://www.lpslabs.com/dist.asp.

Haven't used it yet, but I'm going to pick some up today.

I used LPS 3 as a corrosion preventative in General Aviation aircraft with good results.
