Need help fast!! Throttle linkage

Alright about 4 months ago I broke my accelerator lever (Maybe a common problem I dont know) WELL IT HAPPENED AGIN stdmfcb! Soo i did some investigating and found that the rod in the tunnel is bowed out when the pedel isnt pressed and when pressed it straightens out and causes the accelerator lever to pull to the right and bend until it brakes. Soo is there a aftermarket set-up I can use or maybe a cable from an other car I can use or can someone show me the light to fixing this problem cause im in a rally friday heading to a car show.

Thanks dudes, rich

Rich,

The throttle pull-rod in the tunnel should be straight. The guide bushings only should serve to support it. If it is seriously bowed, that indicates some prior (improper?) repair or damage. You need to do some careful investigation to determine why there was a repair and if there was tunnel damage.

You can remove the throttle rod and straighten or replace it.

It is a common issue (depending on year) with interference between the linkage at the pedal assembly bell-crank and the tunnel sheet metal. This is easily dealt with by a slight ‘adjustment’ of the tunnel sheet metal.

Best,
Grady

update: the rod is touching the right side of the whole under the cover that gives for access to the shift coupler.
