Your car
Your car was black from the factory. The Keuylian's brought in two 959's in 2001, yours and #158 which I believe is a silver car. They may have brought in one more later, possibly a red one.
Nora Kuylian was listed as the owner of your car. As for the 8th digit being off, is that an intentional mistake? Did G&K put a catalytic converter on the car? Does it have an Ox sensor? If the answer ot either is "no" then I don't know how they could pass CA emissions. I don't believe your car in one of the Graeter cars but I'm not sure. Bauer made up the 959 bodies as demand determined. In some ways, the cars were built like the McLaren F1, some vins show up in early or later years and aren't in chronlogical order. I know of no correlation between what Bauer built and POrsche put together. The main 959 frame is an off the line 911 turbo body heavily modified and line welded in places and reinforeced.

Legend has it that someone in my family wanted a black 959 but the potato crop that year was quite meager so we only have the ‘959 Sale Brochure’ to claim proximity to the true black 959 The pre-Sale Brochure states that “Porsche is manufacturing 200 of the road-tested 959, the sport-car of the future…” Moreover the environment was not altogether forgotten “The 959 engine has been designed for environmentally acceptable unleaded fuel (95 octane). Catalytic converters are available as an option" Well Done, Wayne! |

Brochure pages...
Interesting how minimalist and to the point are the descriptions of the many impressive innovations...

How's the AC in the 959? Was it as advanced as the rest of the car compared to 911?
I think this car is more legendary in our minds than the Carrera GT....just reading about it is like being admitted to a special club. I appreciate the documentation, and the ride you are giving us....please don't stop. thanks, t.
