Anyone recommend classic car insurance?
I've got a '67 912 I've just finished restoring, and I'm looking for insurance. They seem to be a dime a dozen on the internet, most of them 'insta-quote' me between $250-$280 per year with a 5,000 mile limit.
Can anyone with experience with any of these places make a recommendation for someone with a AAA rating and good customer service? Any and all input welcome! thanks, Nick |

I'm very happy with Hagerty Ins. Do a search as this question come up often and there is much data to read through. Good luck!

Hagerty is best, as long as you have one more car than there are drivers in your household. They don't specify a mileage limit, they do insured for agreed value, but they won't touch something that it's apparent you use (or are required to use because it's your only car) as a daily driver.

I have insured my restored 1973.5T for eight years now with State Farm. They treat this like the family car. My big problem is that I have to keep raising the replacement value as these longhoods keep going up in price!!!!!!!!!!! Its all in the replacement value if totaled.

I have found Leland West to be the least expensive. I have used them for 8 or 10 years.

Leland is the cheapst I've found - got them through my Nationwide agent. Used to have American Collectors when I had a tree come down on my garage and two cars I had were a total loss. They paid me with a week no questions asked and let me buy one of them back for ~$500.

I just obtained insurance in April through Hagerty for my 1973.5 911T and they do have a mileage limit of 5,000 miles. I live in Calif. but they may offer no mileage in other states but I doubt it as that would be discriminatory.

Hagerty quoted me 390 (on the high side but I had to meet the 250/500 uninsured/underinsured motorists insurance as required by my umbrella policy). They did ask for a mileage estimate and I said 5,000.
State farm said $4,088 for six months of insurance! Is there a classic car quote I should have gotten from them? I filled out their standard form online. Right now it looks like Hagerty. Thanks for all the feedback! Nick |

When I went insurance shopping, I checked Grundy, Hagarty, American Collectors, Sneed and Leland West, with an agreed value of $26,000. Sneed had the best value. They offer unlimited mileage-as long as you can provide info on your daily driver.
1987 930 for $281.00 annually, happy with them, so far.

One thing I don't look for in an insurance company or airplane engines is the cheapest one. Otherwise I might as well go with Geico or Progressive and take my chances.

Airplane engines yes.
Insurance, that's a whole different ball game. Progressive donates to ACLU and therefore will not get 1 dime of my money. GEICO provides good coverage at a decent rate but a lot of companies provide good coverage but poor service. Shop for insurance that meets your needs, provides the best coverage, agreed value, good service etc etc. Often times, as in my case, I have 4 vehicles and my homeowners all with AAA, and I get a substantial discount on everything. I didn't use AAA to insure my 73 as they wanted to use the NADA book as a guide to the value of my car. NADA book said it was worth 26,000 and I wanted 30,000. Hagerty didn't squawk a bit when I asked for the 30k.

I use Sneed Robinson & Gerber for both my 80 SC and my 67 Nova. No discount for multiple vehicles but it is declared value no mileage limit that I am aware of. I think I been with them about 15 years now.

I already had State Farm, I found that their collector car policy was just about as cheap as Hagarty, but with better limits and no mileage requirements. Plus in the event of a claim you might have some leverage with the Company having more than one car insured with them. If that's possible...

Curious if anyone has declared a total loss on their Porsche with State Farm and how it went.
