I have never heard of a "crate engine" for a 3.0. If not rebuilt how a 79 cab get 135k on the body and only 25k on the engine??

I thought I remembered seeing you could get a crate motor from the factory. I don't remember where I saw it, or how long ago it was from, but I think the price was like 23k, so not very practical.

There were a bunch of so called crate motors available around 9 years ago when Vasek Polak's stuff was sold. I was working on buying two of them until the price started raising every hour. I know Vasek had many connections with Porsche directly and not sure what is/was available lately.

And I'm betting the seller doesn't have any paperwork to back up his "crate engine" claim.

a lot of the vasek crate motors were test stand engines the factory used to check emissions, power testing etc. All perfectly good, but how do you get docs that say which engine did what and for how many hours?
Still technically speaking , they all had zero miles !

Hmmmm... $30k for a replacement motor? I think I'll pass. Got to keep looking for that nice SC for my son.
