My wife made me do it. She loves her puppy. I think she keeps me around as an organ donor in case the dog needs one. She also chose the plate on the 911. Hey, it makes her happy.... I'm happy.

All this talk about trying to figure out what certain vanity plates mean reminds me of the 1st plate I had on my 911. It was NOT a vanity plate, but it kind of looked like one.

The state issued plates that were 2 letters followed by 2 numbers followed by 2 letters. The plate they gave me was BU20ST. It was funny because people thought it was a vanity plate & they kept trying to figure out what it meant. Pretty funny...especially when I told them it wasn't anything, other than 2 letters, 2 numbers & 2 letters.

As for the vanity plate discussion, I don't particularly care for "cutesy" vanity plates, like 2FAST4U.

I did try to get CARRERA but it was taken, so I simply got DM 911.

Those amber headlights are SWEET! Where did you get them ... sorry I know it is off topic but very nice.

Just a quick story that I thought was moderately relevant. My sister-in-law's brother wanted one that said "Hi There" Unfortunately, it was already taken, so he took out the space. Now, every time I see it, I think it's an open invitation for rear-end damage -- HITHERE. I tease him every time.

I never understood the need or want for a "vanity" plate. Every time I see one I wonder what the person was thinking. Not judging, but I would never have one. To each his own....

Even stranger is the British folks who pay big dollars to get a plate that "almost" says a work. WTF? Look in the back of a Porsche 911 World mag at the adds for these plates........

Like mine for example. The ads in 911 World are usually only Porsche based plates so relatively economical by UK personalised plate prices. You must bear in mind that they can also be considered a commodity which retains a value and can also go up in value.

I really don't like vanity plates, but my car came with them. I thought about putting on regular plates until my friends told me I can't blend in with traffic in my car.

My only fear with a vanity plate is someone easily remembering it and calling the cops when I fly by them at 100 mph on the e-way.

K09 is the airport identifier for my home field and 13 is my wife's lucky number.

I figure she's pretty lucky to have me and I'm pretty lucky to have her and the 911.

So it's not really a vanity plate to me as much as it's just an appreciation of the simpler things in life.

It seems to me that a vanity plate is no different than putting a quote or the number of cars you own/have owned in your signature. It's nothing more than advertisement, and we all know that advertisement, when taken to an extreme (as is common in our culture), is damaging.

Interesting perspective. Mine's different.

The number of cars you own/have owned is a way of showing the stops youv'e made along the road and how you got to where you are now. I personally am not adverstising anything and I sure don't feel damaged or like I'm doing damage.

I got my first Porsche in '73 and so my journey goes back a while. I could care less though if somebody has the resources to go out and buy 5 or 10 in one fell swoop. If I had the resources I'd love to be able to do that.

The fact that the marque has made that big an impression on them is what counts to me.

From my perspective the signature and the plate is about passion not advertising but then again that's just me.

Lighten up. It's just one more way to have fun with a 911.

One of the best ones I've seen is IXXI - My brother had it on his '81 911. Come to think of it, I did get arrested in Oregon for driving 110+ in it, so maybe there is something about having a "memorable" plate....
