I did one on mine. Haven't put the frame on yet but gotta have a plate or else the fuzz gets annoyed. I used the name of my company "BreitIdeas Business Management Consulting" because one of the major reasons I started the company was so I could eventually get myself a 911 turbo. Who knew it woudl be a slope nose to boot!!!
Here's a pic... I have gotten mixed reviews from people but that mostly falls in the "don't care" category.

I agree - the mixed revies don't bug me, its explaining to people what the plate means that gets to me.

My current plate is BAHNBRNR

As in barn burner with a german twist....only 2 people have given positive remarks...most others just make me explain it...and that is annoying...maybe my choice was just DUMB

It is your car so put on it what you like. I don't see any choices in the poll I would pick so I didn't vote. I went boring and just used my initials.

I went with this:

Not too many people wonder what it says but I do have a lot of PCA folks that want it when I'm done, if ever.

Mine's more esoteric; a number of Porschephiles had to ask what it meant (240 Silver Coupes for U.S.):

When people ask what it means I tell them it's sort of like Rubic's cube, you have to figure it out yourself. Most drop the subject at that point. I never had a vanity plate before this one.

Who among us puts a "kick me" sign on our keister? That's what a vanity plate on a Porsche is. You own the car, you can afford it, you appreciate it, beyond that leave it alone. There are a lot of people out there working two or even three jobs, driving used Corollas and volunteering for their community (I'm an EMS volunteer in our local ambulance corps) who don't need to be reminded how fortunate you and I are.

Vanity plates can be dorky, but most of the time they are ok or fun.

When I lived in NoVA, I used to see a car running around that had the plates I952FL. I suspect most folks didn't get it. I've seen L8APEX and that sort of thing, and that's cool too.

It's when I see "2FAST4U" and that sort of thing that I think... wanker.

Jeez, take all the fun out of it. I don't know where your van plate money goes, but some of ours is used wisely. I agree with the it's-your-car idea. We have 3 van plates out of 5 cars. Ad none of them are something obscure. You can readily see what they say/mean.

We've had a lot. Once we had LVPCJOY on a bug. What's not to love? Of course I once had ZEKE, but I let it go....

I disagree. I drive an 84 Carrera, I could drive something faster and more expensive if I wanted but I choose to drive a 23 year old car and put up with the issues associated with a car that has 127,000 miles. It just looks different from other cars but most likely cost less than most Corollas. Oh, and I do my share of volunteering.

Get over yourself Steve.....I have worked in the Emergency Services and volunteer associations for more than 30 years too, and I believe I have earned the right to live where I live, own what I own and drive what I drive. If I decide to purchase a flat sceen TV for my bedroom or put a vanity plate on one of my cars that's exactly what I will do without remorce for the people that can't afford to. If you feel that strongly about why don't you sell your Porche and buy a corolla and donate the rest to charity!
A vanity plate is a personal chioce and if you get the right one ca be a very lucrative investment.

I think it depends on what it's trying to say. If it's in your face I'm better than you, then it warns the rest of us that the owner is a wanker,so keep away.

I don't think that mine is to show-off-look-at-me. However, I could be wrong.

Interestingly. I originally asked if "1977" was available, the computer said yes. But when they went to order it, all "years" are reserved by the Federal Gov.......

Not bad for a 7 letter condensed version of Auf Wiedersehen (properly pronounced: "owf-VEEder-zane")

Probably could have used a "d" instead of the 2. The the 2 sound more like the US mispronunciation so I went with it.

Well, I never did it for this reason... (a short story)

My buddy was driving home very late at night. Stops at a stop sign, nothing around, pulls out to turn right as a teenager dressed in black on a bicycle comes flying out of the park adjacent...BUMP. My buddy gets out..."kid, are you ok?" Kid jumps on his bike, and calls out he's fine and rides off before my buddy can say anything else.

A few hours later, the cops call my buddy, ask him if he owns a white Chev with licence plate MACH2. Yep. The kid called the cops, and my buddy was charged with hit and run, despite the fact that he didn't. Anyway, he had that hanging over his head for 18 months before it went to trial and he was acquitted.

Do you think the kid would have remembered the plate if it looked like everyone else's?

A personalized plate is mandatory for a finished Porsche. It is almost like , I can afford the fuchs but not the caps. Also it is good for showing the fags in the jacked up trucks, with the plates that say (small penis),back the **** off me.
