Not sure what these were for?

Looks like the wiring to the old AC console that sits in the top of that space.

The wires don't really look like factory wiring. I'd guess something added later.

Sorry but strongly disagree with Mac, those are definitely factory wires. Has the console been changed? It would be a good idea to at least tape them off so you don't get any shorting. They gray or white wire shown is aftermarket something but hard to tell from the picture.

Those are definitely for the A/C temperature and blower controls.

thx guys. it makes sense since the a/c compressor was removed from the engine bay.

Sorry guys, you may be right. Just don't remember seeing wires color coded with bands on my car, but it's an 82 and you're talking about a 77.
