Cornering Noise

Can anyone suggest what is making a banging noise from the rear of my 69T? It usually occurs whilst cornering left or right at speeds above 20mph. I've been told it could be a CV joint or suspension. I think I can feel something through the steering wheel at the same time also. How do I tell if the CV's are shagged, can they be rebuilt or should I replace them with new ones? I have no sway bars (front or rear...will get around to these), and I'm pretty sure the engine mounts are fine. Any ideas or suggestion would be great, Thanks.

Make sure you don't have a lsd that is going bad. Look for the obvious with the CV joint and suspension, but I had a similar situation that only occurred when I accelerated very hard or made a sharp turn to the right. My limited slip needed to be rebuilt. Hopefully, your situation will be a less expensive fix.

Mine makes a banging or thumping sound when cornering to the right. Single thump. Sounds like a loose baseball.

This is not a CV noise. Some have suggested it is a loose/worn spring plate bushing. Sounds like it's happening on the rear deck, right behind my head.

I had exactly this problem with my 72E. Drove me crazy. Only happend on sharp turns. Turned out to be a bad inner CV joint. Ball was popping out of race.

Same thing while turning left. I'm hoping it is the cv joint as when I went to repack them they had serious pitting. On one the grove was so bad I don't think the ball could rol by, when it did I think it made the loud pop. I have the new ones and will install this weekend. I'll let you know if this eliminates the noise.
