Sway bar questions....
I recently converted a set of LWB adjustable spring plates to SWB. I was planning on using the early charlie bars15mm up front and 15-16mm rears. I am now to understand that the early OEM bars only work with non-adjustable spring plates. Anybody know for sure? I know the primary difference is how the droplinks attach to the spring plates....and I have tarret sway bars on my LWB cars with adjustable spring plates, but am devoid of knowledge and experience with SWB sway bars.
Also, if I use an after market Smart Racing, or Tarret sway bar, with the shortened spring plate, will the drop links now be at a weird angle? Should I move the sway bar attachment brackets forward on the longitudinals? I have not welded them up yet. |

The rear OEM sway bar drop link mounts onto each control arm via a ball pivot pin, not the spring plate as in most aftermarket sway bar kits. In this regard, it shouldn't matter whether it's a LWB or SWB chassis/springplate. AFAIK, Charley Bar drop links are one of the few aftermarket bars that mount onto the control arm like the factory sway bar drop links, but the CB kits I've seen were for the later, '77' on aluminum arms using a threaded hole in place of the ball pivot pin on pre-77' control arms.
