One of the biggest components of this project has been the development of the rear fenders. If you have read through the thread you can see things really started from scratch. After lots of development/revisions and the contributions of multiple talented people I feel like we are there. The final iteration has been bonded to the car and I will post some photos of development in the near future.

Have sort of been waiting for someone to do a Mary Stuart collar. Maybe I missed them previously but looking forward to this one.

Fenders

So if you go back to post 765 you can see where Keith finished up the final shape of the rear fenders. Once complete, the car went to a carbon shop in NC to have the carbon fiber reinforced and finished. Here are some photos of the process:

Man someone really likes that car 20 years of work and several million dollars later.
Maybe an exaggeration but still some serious dedication. Can’t wait to see the finished car.

Once the carbon work was done it was back to the body shop to fine tune the shape and get the fenders bonded to the body:

No wonder the Mary Stuart Collar is a mod not often seen. Amazing work.

How will the plastic tank hold up with ethanol fuel?

So, this inquiring mind wants to know... Will this car go to AeroDyne to see what kind of added rear DF these fenders make?

Yes its definitely taken some time to get the shape and dimensions they way they are now. I have seen a few other builds the the Mary Stuart tail, one shaped from metal and another in fiberglass. I can't take credit for any of the work, just appreciative for the creative folks who have worked hard on the project.

Thats a good question about the fuel tank and the ethanol. Based on the type of plastic and with adequate venting I think we should be okay, definitely a good idea to investigate further.
