Mine are hooked into my turn signal circuit.....
|
I checked it out and the delay works as it should. When I open the door the fogs go out....
As for moving the power windows to fuse#2 - I did for a while and then moved them back. I had to remove the crimped piece of metal binding the copper together on the end of the power window wire and twisted the copper from the foglight relay onto that. I did fit much better into fuse#1 this way. Thanks for the help .... Kato |
OK experts, as you can see I have no grey wire on the bottom of fuse # 5. On my '80, the 1st fuse is fogs and the 5th is low beam right. can you tell me what bottom grey wire to move and to where? No guessing please.
#2 has a grey wire on the bottom ( the only one ). #2 is license plate light.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1222641311.jpg Don |
Hey Don..
Try disconnecting the grey wire from the #2 fuse and see if the foglights still work. If they do not, then that is the correct wire to move. |

You can force the Fog lights relay to the ON position so everytime you turn the key the fog lights go on.. (at least in the 964 there is a relay, don't know about 911 thou... I can't remember.)
Anyway I wrote about it here: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=292399 Good luck! |
In my 89, when I put the parking light/headlight switch in the "parking light" (first detent) position, and turn on my fogs, they come on. As the switch isn't activating the headlights, no headlights, only fogs.
I had thought this was standard? |
Any Updates on Mod?
Hey Fellas,
Reviving this old thread. I did not intend to make this mod but my Fog Light Switch's internal capacitor burned out and no longer illuminates the internal light, Tested it on a 9 volt source and it lit up fine. The worse thing is that it would cause a surge and blow the #8 (#18) Fuse to the Fog Lights. I ordered a new switch but in the meantime, I jimmed the two Fog Light wire to #7 fuse where the License Plate wire comes out from. Disabled #8 and insulated the wires. This also by passed the Fog Light Relay all together. To my amazement, it worked. But I did have to replace the 5 amp to an 8 amp fuse. I know that is bad. I really like the fact that the fog lights turn on when parking light are on. I wondered if everyones mod is doing fine and no issues came up due to the mod? Also has anyone moded like me and if so, did you place a relay on the two wires? SmileWavy |
Fog lights to running lights
Thanks to all, I just did this on my '86 and it took 30 seconds, very cool!

The 1st set of two white wires on the right are fog according to Bentley but do I move both or what? It seems the 78,79s are a little different than the others posted. |

For your '86, move the grey wire to fuse #10. Good luck, Gerry |

Does anyone know if the '84 wiring is the same as the '86?
Looks like this would be nice to have at dawn/dusk prior to needing the H4s. Thanks :) |

The #10 fuse on the '86 is assigned to: 1. Heated windshield nozzles. 2. Rear window wiper. 3. Windshield wiper switch. 4. Wiper delay relay. |
Can anyone help on my 79 with my post from above?
