Added signature, but it does not seem to be picking up on old posts as it has for others. Did I do something wrong?

I agree...those who believe and/or attend Church, say a prayer while at church for Warren, I will.

It's the end of the first full day of this effort. What's the donation total as of now?
Keep up the great work, guys!

Either way, I think using that story as a springboard for this one is really the only way to gain traction. Otherwise, this is just another fundraising story. I'm involved in a handful of charitable causes these days, and after a while, the drone of asking for money just becomes background noise to people you're trying to solicit from. You need a unique and touching element to galvanize and leap people to act. Although we all huge fans of Warren and want to do all we can to help, the truth of the matter is that his story is not as compelling as some others out there (sick kids with cancer, for example). So, in order to make his story more compelling, the history of the generosity of the group here needs to be spun in a way to call people to help. Something on the order of "the group did it once before with flying success, and now they are trying for a repeat performance." Without the springboard of the previous effort (which is just a super-fantastic story), I think we'll have trouble attracting attention outside of the Porsche / Pelican circles. Another thought. What if I were to hire Warren at Pelican? We have full health benefits here at Pelican. Somehow, I seriously doubt that would fly, and I would probably get sued, but I am just thinking outside of the box. Right - we have a 90-day probationary program and I think they have to be here in California for that to work. Plus Warren is pretty much incapacitated right now... Yup, I doubt that would work. -Wayne

As of now 112 friends of Warren have contributed $15,000! This does not include the checks coming in. Friends from the U.S., Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, Sweden and Japan have come forward to help save the life of a good man.

At $15,000 im not impressed. This board has it much better than that. Im not a wealthy guy by any means and my sole contribution is 10% of that total. There are plenty of deep pockets out there. If you guys dont dig deeper, or worse yet dont dig at all we will fail this great cause and acomplish nothing.
I hope those checks will at least match the paypal total. I recently posted a list of items for sale on this forum and in 4 days sold $18k worth of parts to a total of 9 members. Do the math on that one guys. This cause is for a good mans life. As a bonus we can maybe see Warrens post count pass the 10,000 mark. I seriously dought we will get any help from the media. Its on us. Please postpone your next hobby investment. What comes around goes around. Its just good karma. BTW Im having a hard time posting this because I dont want to ruin the moral here. But I have to say it. I thought we would be past $100k by now. Kurt Williams

Well put, Kurt. I agree 100%, we have expensive toys, and many of them are still running thanks to Warren's help. I am going to the garage this weekend, and see what's lying around. If there is anything I can sell on this board, I will donate the proceeds to Warrens cause. I suggest this as another method to help out.

Kurt W - glad you said it, because I think a lot of us are thinking the same way. $15K is a big effort and very commendable but it's literally a drop in the bucket. And this is when the enthusiasm is high. There could maybe be that much in checks coming in the mail already as well. But what happens in a week when people get tired of reading about this. This is the reality of it. Warren never minces any words and we shouldn't either. Maybe donations will start coming in from other websites/forums but I think the best chance is here where Warren is well-known.
Anyway, one possible idea would be to set up some sort of auction where we could donate/auction parts, cars, services or whatever. For instance, I donate a steering wheel worth $500 and somebody 'pays' me by sending the money to Warren's fund. I don't know, maybe there's too many potential problems with that idea .... The time factor is so short, this is really difficult. Otherwise, we could organize some drives to raise money (hmmm, maybe one of the big New Year's Day runs in LA could try something?) In the end, I think we're going to need several BIG donors to step up to get anywhere near the goal.

any estimate so far on the check pledges coming by mail? again, what's our time-factor here needed to raise the $300k?

I have never been on here before, but I have been a 6speed member and sponsor for some time. I saw this in our OT section and just read thru all 11 pages. needless to say, I am very touched, I have sent my donation, plus 3% via paypal. it all adds up. If everyone just gave $100, the goal can be met very quickly. I wish the very best to his family, and the best of luck in raising the necessary funds. I am a member of quite a few other forums (vortex/TCL, AW), and would be glad to cross post this, with permission, of course.

Dustin, glad you came over here from the 6. We are thankful for your donation. Sadly, the thread in OT doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves.

Just contributed via pay pal. I just dodged a bullet health wise and realize how medical costs can get out of hand very fast. Our thoughts are with you Warren.
