Happy New Year Gents!
Several Months ago I retro fitted my Momo shifter knob with an OEM 5 speed knob. I had to use the retaining cup to secure the knob but pushing it down would not make a tight fit so I used a rubber mallet to slam the knob down. It worked but now... Infrequently and only when I accelerate quickly from 1st to 2nd and while in 2nd I would get a "squiling whirling" sound eminating from the shifter (I suspect). The pitch gets higher when I go faster. When I lift off the accelerator and maintain or accelerate speed, the noise would stop. When I shift down from 3rd, no noise. When I drive slow to moderate speeds or in 2nd cruising, there is no noise. Only during quick/fast acceleration. I searched but could not find a fix only a whole bunch of suggestions. Can anyone post their findings and please their fix? TIA, Jim ![]() P.S. Patrick please check your PM
