Final Decision Made- Carmine Red.-std color, 87-88

Thanks for all the help and suggestions! I just ordered a few spray cans and a small bottle of touchup from Paintscratch so I can see it in person. If it looks a good as I expect, I'll bring the samples to my painter and have him use it to match.

If you 2nd guess the Carmine red, give the Peru red a look. I looked @ a77 in that color and was really liking it,I'm not a big red fan,but the peru is a pleasing color. reminds me of the grand canyon. i think it's one of those colors that look especially good on 911's. Then again i think the same about aubergine, also.
Good luck

That's great that the color is settled - can we go back to Kilodawg for a sec...

"Here are a couple of pics of my old "Mexico Blue Targa" from when the earth tried to eat it....."

Did I miss something? That sounds like an interesting 911 story that I would like to hear - what color is that car now?

Long Nose it's a long story. It was back in May of '81. The car was in for service at a shop in Winter Park, Florida and wound up getting swallowed in the sinkhole that formed over the weekend. As you can see I got it out. I almost literally drove it off a bridge after that in another episode and sold it the following year. So it's been long gone. I'd like to think it's still around but that car had a dark cloud over it's head....

Sorry - a bit late to this thread, but if I had to choose a new colour for my Targa I'd go for this (Lime Green - I think - special order colour 76/77 model years):

Peru red was very close, that is a great shade, but every time I look at the chips, and see the pics, I kept coming back to Carmine, and that did it for me!

I think it looks amazing.

I'm also partial to Fraise and Signal Orange.

not sure, I just made it up in photo-shop, but I remember seeing something similar to that on an early 70's 911

Are you sure? I haven't seen a Granite Green posted yet so here it is.
