The Stainless 911S
I found the answer to my question recently posed in the resurrected galvanised Porsche thread . This is really cool. The rear window sticker says it all!

Very cool; thanks for posting. I wonder if it shows fingerprints like the Delorean...looks shiner than just a brushed finish.

Allegheny Ludlum in Pittsburgh made stainless bodies for Ford to show their expertise. 4 Door Lincoln, a 58 Thunderbird and one other I can't remember. They still look great.

The Delorean was SS veneer over fibreglass ; the one I tapped and prodded in the Haynes motor museum felt a bit tinny - like a Hollywood mock up car (which , funnily enough...)
That 911 would be rock solid. Again , want!

Wooooooow... Shiney! (must get control of inner raccoon...)
Lots of stainless alloys tend to be very ductile. Wonder it it needs to be thicker gauge to resist dents?

Stainless is great, and it's good to learn of this factory-built car--which probably led to the 1974 and later galvanized steel bodies--but I predict that one day someone with way more time and skill and bucks than I have will build an entire 911 body out of aluminum. A friend built a 356 Speedster that way, then an Abarth Carrera replica. Think about it: An aluminum 911 would weigh far less than a 911R...

Munich had one in the museum in the Olympic region. I was in the US Navy and took several pictures of it and every picture looked like a blur (1978) It was cool to see your great pictures.
