993 windshield.

Finally, I did the conversion. Just to let people know that it is posible. Axiom did it. He replaced everything include ws and seals for me. Look: very nice. Wind noise: I won't bet my head on it since I only had one ride home, but I did feel much less wind noise. I will report after several more rides when I know for sure. Leak: I don't know yet since I have not driven the car in the rain yet, but I sure will report if it will.

So far, I am happy with both, the 933 ws, Axiom's work, and the way he treat his customers. Very helpful guy. He did not just finish the work properly but is also willing to help. He shared experiences on any question I had. A very nice guy. BTW, when I was there, his shop was working on more than 10 p cars all together.

One thing made me supprise is the way the old 911 ws came off. All it needs was one hand to lift it up from the inside, very easy. When I saw this, I felt so lucky I didn't press too hard everytime to clean my ws from the inside.

Post a Pic Ron!

I was there at the end, it looked awsome and Rudy at AXIOM is a Cool Cat!

Soon as I get a crack I am there to install the 993 Windshield.

do all the 993 windsheilds have the black border to conceal the glue? i'm thinking this might not look too good on an early car but on a black trim car it would be fine.

Ron and Draco: thank you for you kind words, I am real glad that your visit to our facilities was a pleasant one.

All windshields have trim around them, it is to conceal the sealant, and I believe that since the late 80's all windshields have been bonded to the body of the vehicles.

It's not really "glue" it's a polyurethane sealant, this is the windshield that we use on all our 993 conversions, as we attempt to make as close to original thing possible, what kind of windshield do you have one yours? by the way Danny_Ocean, I am still working on the quoting thing, and thank you for your input, I almost got it.

911 windshield with a rubber gasket. No glue or sealant involved. How does the 993 windshield mount differently if the opening is the same?

the lip on the windshield opening is wider, and the glass itself is a little smaller than 911, the 993 use an body rubber seal around the lip to support the sealant, another rubber seal around the glass for decor and then bonded to the body, when the sealant cures the shatter proof windshield becomes part of the structure of your vehicle, the proper sealant is rated to an specific strength, not the stuff one would get at an auto part store, I have some pictures at my shop that I would be happy to share.

How is this for quoting, and how do you do multiples?

How come your 993 does not have all the 993 trim?

Pics would be nice. This might be an upgrade I'd be interested in.

Put "quote" marks around each segment you want to quote.

If you find yourself in asituation where you need to kick your windshield out, that can only mean that the structure of your vehicle has bemm compomised, in that case the chances of kicking the windshield out are greater than those of doing it from a standing still point.

According to Rudy at Axiom, no, it can not be kicked out. On my old 911 ws, you don't have to kick it. The guy there lift it up with one of his hand. As I said above, I was supprise that it's so easy to lift the ws off the car Lucky it didn't come off while I was driving. Do I want my ws to come off that easy? Of course not.
