I am looking for the dimensions of the Bilstain rear struts.
I am assessing if the Rebel Racing rear coil over conversion kit will install onto the Koni Sport (Yellow) struts. To do this I need to know the measurements of the Bilstain rear struts. If someone who has Bilstain struts on the back of their car would not mind measuring the circumference for me, I would be really grateful...

My new Bilsteins are still in the boxes, so were very easy to measure.
The lower part of the strut (the part that gets machined for the snap ring) is 50mm in diameter. Oops, you asked for circumference ... um ... 157mm. Did that in my head ... or not. ![]() Good luck Scott

Paul,
Have you decided to go the coil over route vs replacing the torsion bar tube end?

OK, just measured the Koni Yellow I have on the shelf and they are 55mm in diameter, so from that I would say a no go with the Rebel Racing coil over kit then
![]() Hi Tony, no. I will be going the torsion bar road with my car. I will also be installing the Elephant Racing ASP with the Quick Change Spring Plate spline option. I am close to ready to do all the welding repairs on my car, so will probably attach it all in one go during February.

Hi Paul,
I am jealous of your ASP spring plates, but would feel even worse if you were doing the coil over upgrade too. ![]() I pulled myself off of that particular slippery slope because when the ASP was introduced, I had already started cleaning up the old spring plates, and had purchased a set of used, non-quickchange torsion bars. That should hold me for a while. Maybe. Good luck with the torsion tube welding. I finished mine up a couple of weeks ago. It was very refreshing to be able to move on to welding jobs where the access is not so cramped - working inside and under the wheel well was not fun. Wear lots of fire retardant clothing. ![]() I look forward to following your progress - if the past is any indication, you will do a job that makes my work look like the ugly hack that it is. (Hopefully, what it lacks in beauty it makes up for in strength...) Good luck Scott

Thank you for the complements Scott, So far I have done most of the cleaning up and getting ready for the welding jobs. Found rust in a few locations, but nothing that surprised me to much. I would be interested to see some detailed pictures of your torsion tube job. It looks like I need to do some welding on both sides. At first I thought one side was OK, but on closer inspection I think it would be good to attack them both. I am still trying to decide between welding in a smaller tube or replace the it all. I still have some time to decide. As long as I make my target to have the car back on the road by summer.
I am sorry to have to make you feel worse. I was assessing the compatibility of the RR coil over kit with Koni as I'm planning to install them for helper springs in the future. I have some constraints on what components we use - and as such should stay with Koni for the shocks. And we have had a number of customers ask if the RR coil over kits are compatible with the Koni shocks.
