I have bought 2 Fuchs rims 7x15.
They are stamped with the fox logo and the following numbers forged in: 11.361.020.01 AS 162 281392 They are supposed to come from an origninal 2.4 E. I cannot find a reference for this part no (e.g. Bruce Anderson's).Can anyone else? Thanks, Jens |

Jens,
The 2.4E did not have 7 x 15 Fuchs available, in '73 only the RS 2.7 had 7 x 15 Fuchs on the rear. The 1973 silver-centered Fuchs part numbers from the '72-'73 parts catalogue are: 6 x 15 -- 911.361.020.10 7 x 15 -- 911.361.020.11 ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Thanks Warren, thats a start.
I was already wondering as I haven't found those numbers. (I have checked the rims twice. No typing error). I have got them from a very nice guy, who owns the car since new (!). He remembered that later on he has added an RS look by adding flares in the rear. He obviously got a spare set of wheels (7&8x15), but cannot remember. Any idea where the Rims # 11.361.020.01 belong to ??? BTW: They look originally silver (anodized) incl. the center spokes, with black background Jens [This message has been edited by Jens Wendorff (edited 04-05-2001).] |

Jens,
Well, they seem to 'go with' an earlier 6 x 15, tubeless part number I have in my database, if you add a leading '9' ... the 6" is 911.361.020.00. Same 'pairing' as the 6" & 7" 1972-73 numbers for 6" & 7" ... just one last digit difference between them. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

I sure wish someone at Fuchs had published a complete list of part numbers and specifications for all of their contract wheels for Porsche!!!

Now that we're talking Fuchs anyway I'd like to ask something that I have been wondering about. What was/is the name of the company that manufactured the Fuchs wheels?
Jens, can't you simply phone your local Porsche Zentrum and ask the parts seller if he can find the number in his records? I used to work at the spare parts department of a big Opel dealer. Sometimes people did that to me and it was no big deal since it was easy to search for a part number you already knew. |

Jens, I've checked my Porsche parts database & come up with something weird:-
When I entered the part no.911 361 020 01 it recognised the part as a STEEL wheel ! It said that the part no. had been dropped & replaced by 911 361 020 11 which as Warren pointed out is the '73 Fuchs 7 x 15" wheel! I'll do some more digging & see if I can come up with any additional info. Andy Boyle (UK) '69 911E |

It's getting more curious, isn't it?
I will try to get more info here as well... Mikkel, the Fuchs wheels are made by a company "Fuchs" (wonder wonder), correctly: "Metallwerke Otto Fuchs" in Meinerzhagen, Germany. A company specialized in alloy forging, casting etc. Thanks so far. Any additional info is appreciated. Jens |

Jens,
There were 7x15th made in the late sixty´s that looked from the outside just like the 6x15th. The difference is that the backspace is 1 inch larger. Here are the things you need to look for. There is no cast serial No. in the rim. The place where the number should be is ground down on the back of one spoke. The part No. should be (if 7x15) 901.361012.05. It is inprinted in blue-black ink. The build date in this case should beshould be 67-68, maybe 69. You can find the date in one of the recesses of the back central circle. ------------------ Peter 1970 911S Targa |

Thanks Peter, but the Rims look like all other 7x15, not like 6", either old or new style.
The 7x15 (or 7J15 ?) is forged in as well as the part number (Characters are elevated). Size and other numbers are forged on the inside of different spokes. On a 3rd spoke, there is the fox-logo control stamp by the factory (Fuchs). Stamped, not forged. Mmmh... |
