where is the engine number?

Hi,
I have just checked under my car and found a number on the gearbox 73d0888, but according to my log book, my engine number should be 63d0905?

so i am just wondering, am i looking at the wrong number, i can't find any other similar number on teh engine, except the large one beginning with 930 on each side of the engine, but this one is nothing like what i am looking for?

If 73do888 is the engine number, what type of engine is it, as it seems to be a later number than the last SC?

kind regards

j

go back to you engine and look at the fan housing. Go to around the 3 o'clock position on the fan housing. If you look down the side of the housing to the engine you will find a flat vertical spot on the engine housing with the engine number.

On the right side of the fan, look at the lower right corner. The engine number is on the side of the block (not engine fan shroud) and runs vertically. Also, just behind that on the flat part of the engine is the engine type number. You may need a flashlight and a rag with some cleaner to clearly see the engine type number.
