Window doesnt go back up?!?!?!
I have a 1982 porsche 911 sc (automatic windows), the other day i was driving home and put the windows down, the drivers window works fine , but when i tried to put the passenger window back up it wouldnt go back up, only down, to a point where the window is all the way down now. I figured one of the wires on the window switches on the door might have disconnected, so i checked and they all looked good. Tried it again and they still would not go down......Any ideas? Thanks

What happens when you reach across and use the switch on the passenger door?

I've experienced the very same thing on my 80 SC.... The window switches for the SC's are noted for their failure rate. Try using the pax side switch. If no-joy - time to buy a new switch. Switch removal is esay > use a 2" sheet rock "mud" spreader - pry the switch out - switch out the wires [after noting the wire configuration].
Good luck

if i use the passenger side door switch it does the same thing it goes down, but not up, same with the driver side switch for the passenger window. so which switch doesnt work then, the switch on the passenger door or the switch on the drivers door for the passenger window?

Are you sure that the window isn't off the cradle? If it is, you will hear the motor running but nothing is moving.

I have had this happen before. In my case, I kept working the switch and eventually got the window to roll up. It bought me some time until I could get the switch replaced.

The drivers side window is electriclly connected to the passneger side. So it makes sense it wouldn't work either. If it's the same as my 84' the drivers side has 6, I think, wires. The center two, (striped) are the motor wires. Maybe one came off. Switch them to get the window back up.

Power Window Switch schematic
Check out the second drawing, the complete circuit. Notice the drivers door, passenger window switch. If one of the connections to terminals 3 or 5 is bad then you will have one way operation.
