a/c expansion valve-Where is it?
I want to replace the expansion valve as I'm sure my problem is a dead restriction (ie. x-valve seized up). I can't locate it on my 85 carrera. Any one know how to access it? I know it should be next to the evaporator but I don't want to start tearing everything apart to find it.

I think this is a disk shaped valve located on the A/C unit that is under the trap door in your luggage compartment.

You may have a blocked filter/dryer. I was having a problem with my head pressure and found out that the filter/dryer was the culprut. It was in the car since 78. You might want to check it first.
The expansion vlave is located in the front under the plastic cover, below the trap door. It is disc shaped with a capilary tube attached. Steve |
