need rear wheel bearing puller idea

took off rear axles 1974 911. i want to replace my rear wheel bearings. any ideas out for a puller other than the $232.00 bp-90.

You can rent a slide hammer bearing puller from autozone or kragens and use that. It destroys the bearing, but that's ok since you'll be replacing that...

Option 2:- If you are handy with a lathe you can turn one of these up mate.

Harbor frieght now offers one you will still need a slide hammer to get the hub off.

this will do the job of BP-90 puller?

I have never used the one Harbor freight offers I use one that was offered about 10-15 years ago for FWD VW/AUDI's and it works on 911/914 etc. With out having it in my hands I don't see why it wouldn't work....

One thing that can be tricky is removing the outer section of the bearing race as it wants to stay with the hub I carefully use an air chiesel to drive it off. You can see in one of the posted pictures the bearing clamp that is another way to get the inner race off.

Install the new bearings by pressing only on the outer race. Chill bearing in freezer and heat housing. Pull wheel hub into bearing using spindle nut and extra washers. No pounding during installation of hub or you'll "Brinell" the races in the new bearing possibly ruining it or shortening its life.
