I'm sorry to hear that your friend is still unconscious...but don't give up your hope, or your faith, or your prayers.
My church will be praying for you both. Dan Crockett |
Not exactly what we'd hoped for, but things can change quickly. Hang in there. Things really can change quickly.
My cousin was out for 2 weeks before he woke up, and he's still the same wiener he always was (genetics). So anyway, one Thanksgiving he came by. Picked up a solid metal tank I was playing with. I was pretty young. "Run Kurt Run," he said. Unwillingly, I ran. Of course, he beaned me with the thing in the back of my ankle, and it was bleeding, so I limped into the house and took a seat on the couch. My dad said "What's wrong?" "Scott beaned me with my tank." "Is it bleeding?" "Yeah," I said. "Well get off the couch!" |
Hey Folks,
Just a little update. Bev's doing a lot better since she's settled in at University Hospital in Cincinnati. She's awake much more of the time, her eyes focus (instead of just kind of lolling around) and she'll look at you. She still has a breathing tube in, but she's breathing fine on her own - it's just for protection of her airway. She contracted two mild complications - vent-related pneumonia (no problem) and some sort of blood malady from having arterial lines in (also no problem). She's also getting the usual problems associated with being laid up for a long time, but I hope to have her up in a chair tomorrow if all goes well. They need to move her around a little and get her stimulated. She has a brain injury of some sort that we know of - no one's sure just yet. We'll see if she'll talk to us once she has a trach tube put in and the tube out of her mouth and she can talk to us, maybe. If you'd like to send a card - flowers arent' allowed in this ICU - you can send them here: Beverly Hood SICU #11 University Hospital 234 Goodman Street Cincinnati, Ohio 45219 (513) 584-1000 Thanks folks for your thoughts, no matter if you know me or not, no matter if you've posted here 1000 or 10 times. Any positive thoughts are appreciated. ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 1987 Escort 5-speed 1.9 RIP The Porsche Owners Gallery |

I'm not sure I agree that progress has been slow. According to my count, it has been one week. Many patients show no response whatsoever at one week. Look how far she's come.
Hang in there, Beverly and Mark. And for the rest of you: Pray without ceasing, as Mother Theresa used to say. |
Very good news Mark.
As always, in my prayers. Paul |
Go Bev! There's lots of us out here pulling for you. Hang in there Mark, our prayers are with you.
|
Hang in there..........She seems to be progressing very well, and at this pace, you'll be taking her home before you know it.
