Mark,

I'm glad Beverly is doing better! Keep up the good work, as she can hear everything you tell her, even if it isn't evident, now!

I am also glad you posted the address of the hospital, as FTD needed one and yellow pages searches turned up nil!

Mark,

Just read through this thread. My wife and I hope against all hope that all will be well soon. You and Beverly are in our thoughts.

We are very, very glad to learn that Bev's condition is improving.

I know we can't do much to help from out here across the country, but if we can, please let us know.

Mark,
Very sorry to hear about the accident and we will pray for you and Bev.

I was struck by a car while jogging and was unconscious for 8 days. Believe me, it is very likely that Bev can hear every thing that you say. Keep it up, it really helps. She will pull through. God Bless.

Excellent! I think this is a REALLY good sign and I have a good feeling about Beverly's recovery. Nevertheless, the prayers will continue.

Mark,
God Bless you both. Hang in there. Don't forget it tells us in the Bible that God cares enough about us to know the number of hairs on our heads. So he surely will be with you both in this time of need.

Prayers for you both.

Hey folks. I was blown away to see this thread still near the top of the list. You guys are fanatics, and I can understand - if one of you had posted a message, I'd be posting to it as well.

She's still stable, and doing well. The great news - she continues to be cogniscent at times, when she hasn't had any pain medication in a few hours. At one point today she practically sat up in the bed while being attended to by one of her nurses, and with eyes wide open, looked straight at me, and blinked once. Wow. She's in there, for real.

Her brother and I have been taking turns reading one of her favorite books, Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" to her. She's been trying to get me to read it for months now. She wins.

Tomorrow, she gets moved down to Cincinnati, where we live. It's a 140 mile ambulance ride, and she should be fine. The great news beyond that is that once down there, they will likely extubate her - removing the breathing tube she's been using for the last 5 days. That's great, because the sooner we get it out of her, the sooner they can wean her off of it, and the sooner she can start talking to us.

She now has no less than 12 pots of flowers outside her room. I took pics of them today. If you still wish to send flowers - hold off on sending them to Mansfield, as she's moving. When I get the address of the hospital she's moving to, I'll post that address in an update.

This is going to sound corny - but you people are like family now, and my doors are open to any one of you. Just ask. There are some times when a simple word, like what you've posted here, carries more meaning than any cranky relative calling to ask how she is.

Thanks.

Mark,

Believe it or not, I just came back from Cincinnatti tonight (4/26) and I read your post. I am very sorry to hear the initial news, but I am quite happy to hear that Bev is starting to recover. I've already said a prayer for you two.

From one '86 Carrera owner to another, stay strong & think positive, Mark. All of us are thinking about you.

Mark,

Although I have never met either of you and don't really know you, I know what you are going through. Since I read this post, I have been including you both in my prayers, and I lit a candle for Beverly today, with a prayer for a full and speedy recovery. Her progress is very encouraging! Keep strong and always remember that their are lot of people pulling for you.

Mark and Beverly;

Sorry to hear about Beverly's injuries but glad to hear about her recovery.

We are all pretty much fanatics about our P cars, but when push comes to shove, an incident like this proves that our priorities are really in the right place. Human relationships are where it is. It really isn't our cars, or our image, its the people with whom we are involved that really makes it worthwhile.

We look forward to seeing some real smiles on your faces soon.

Bests wishes to you and Beverly.

Sincerely,

Diverdan

Mark,

I'm so glad that Beverly is showing positive signs. I have watched a friend go through a similar situation after a car accident and come to a full recovery. The scariest part for me was not knowing if my friend was still in there. Best luck.

I knew it... she'll be fine!
That is great news Mark! So, so glad to hear of the improvement. It may very well take time to recover completely (lots of physical training stuff) but it is evident that she is well on her way. makes me very happy to hear that she sat up by herself. Probably would have asked how you did at the autocross if she hadn't had the breathing tube in her way! Very happy for you both Mark. You are a friend and we will all see you through this.
keep us posted,
Lee

Kurt B 04-27-2001 06:48 AM

That's great news Mark. I'm the only bozo to probably ask questions, but I'm kinda wondering what the attending physicians said about all of it, what to expect, or if they're still waiting to see what happens themselves?
Nonetheless, she's out of danger now. Where there's life there's hope, and where there's youth, there's even more hope!
