Caliper bolt source

Doing big brakes and looking for a source for caliper to adapter bolts. Need
M12 x 1.5 x 95. Could use some help!!!

Howdy,

I looked through my Metric & Multistandard Components catalog and didn't find 12MM - 1.50 thread, the 12 MM had 1.75 thread. I assume you're asking for a socket head cap screw? If you're looking for a hex bolt then MM has the 12MM - 1.50, but only shows lengths at 90MM and 100MM.

You need socket head screws to attach the adapter to the caliper, correct? The M12 x 1.5 fine pitch is somewhat rare. The bolts I got when I had 993 fronts adapted to my car were OEM bolts from Porsche. I believe they were from a Boxster but I recall them being a bit shorter than i'd like. I believe they were 70mm.

A search of the parts diagrams resulted in a maximum bolt length of 80 that I could find. Even my favorite metric fastener suppliers don't offer much in 1.5 pitch. I'll keep hunting but it doesn't look promising. Metric & Multistandard Component Corp. (www.metricmcc.com) does custom stuff if you call them direct.

the question is, Why do you need such long bolts?

930 used 12x1.5x40 front and rear

the longest I've seen are 993RS/tt front @ 12x1.5x77

Hi Bill,
From the bottom of the counter sink on the caliper to the caliper / adapter mating surfaces
is 42mm. The threaded mounting hole on the adapter is 50mm deep. The adapters are
pretty beefy. I probably could go a little shorter but figured I was going to have to order
them anyway so I might as well use all the threaded surface.
By the way I just got home from Mayo Clinic and operations 5,6,and 7 yesterday, feel like I
got run over by a rototiller but everything went well. Wanted to thank you again for all your
help with the brakes and for your well wishes.

I believe that from an engineering standpoint that if you have the diameter of the bolt (12MM) of threads in the hole, that's all required...

I've had good luck getting odd bolts and things from http://www.belmetric.com/ Their catalog has almost the exact the bolt you are looking for. M12 1.5 x 90 should be perfect if you still want to go that long.

I was just at Belmetric a couple of days ago. Please remember that they are wholesale only. They shared with me their displeasure at how "a friend of yours" took up 4 hours of their time for a $100 order. They said they would be more than happy if all the Porsche lists could lose any references to Belmetric. They are great guys but (like the rest of us) they need to put food on the table.
I would recommend Maryland metric for your metric needs unless you are a business. http://mdmetric.com/

I got a kick out of your post. Your correct the length of the captured thread is sufficient to hold the fastener if it is equal to or greater then the the bolt diameter. I laughed because I'm always telling the kids that work for me the same thing even though as an, old fart, I still like to see the end of the bolt sticking out of the threads.

I agree... I restore airplanes and they want at least one thread beyond the nut. I guess, "more is better".
