When I changed the trans oil last winter (it snowed today) I had the car on wheel casters so it sits up a bit higher and was sitting level.
Even driving up on some ramps or 2x6 layered up to give you enough height to work under and the car level for re filling the fluid to the bottom of the plug. Make sure it won't roll off though!!

I have tried different methods, this is the one I feel is safest:
First, I jack it up from the back using the engine as a jack point and set the rear stands under the T bar covers. I place wheel chocks in front and behind one front wheel before jacking up the rear. Of course, I am on level ground. Since the rear wheels are first off the ground, gear selection and E-brake are moot. To do the front I balance a 4X4 on the floor jack pad and bring it up under the front belly pan where the attachment bolts are. I center the jack. Then I jack it up and place the second set of stands under the front T bar covers. I feel this is a safe and stable way to do it. The jacking from the side using the jack pad accessory and the factory jack holes should only be used to remove a tire IMHO. Also, it is wise to loosen the lug nuts before jacking, and to give it a good shove from each corner after placing it on the stands to test that it is solidly supported. Finally, as beautiful as the Fuchs wheels are, I do not hesitate to place them under the belly pan as a failsafe. I also prefer to have a helper present everytime I'm under the car. Don't kid yourself - as light as these cars may be, they will kill you just as dead by sliding off stands on top of you as they would by hitting a phone pole at 125MPH. Let's be careful out there. I have designed a front tool for jacking up 911/914's safely, any intrest and I could produce them for somewhere near 140.00 ea ??? but I would need a decent quantity to go through all the production phases.....................................Thanks Frank

Nothing personal, but I get the feeling Porsche fell a little short in adequately explaining the procedure to change a tire. Either that or us Pcar owners are extraordinarily anal. Again, nothing personal, especially about me.
