Here are the instructions: Remove Weltmeister from box, discard in nearest trash receptacle. Install factory short shift kit.

you could put it on eBay or give it to an enemy... use the factory parts (get 'em here) or none search button will be valuable for this |

i am disassembling a used Weltmeister short shift kit to scavenge shifter parts. I need the instructions to see which parts are from the Weltmeister kit and which ones might be usable in a shift tower/shifter project I am working on.
thanks for looking !

Ok...you win! Thanks! But the shifter sure works better than the stock one...I can't speak to the factory short shift.

thanks Flintsone !
and by the way, I DO have a factory short shift in my car. Momma didn't raise no fool ! i am using the Weltmeister to scavenge a few parts to de-install a Robotek device and bring the shifter back to a stock/short shift configuration.

BTW, isn't the Robotek compatible with the factory short shifter? Inquiring mind wants to know. Sherwood seinesystems.com |

Whats the difference between the Weltmeister and factory kit, is it just the amount of reduced travel?

There's a geometry difference.
A Weltmeister SS shortens the throws by 39% A factory short shifter reduces the throws by 25% On the face of it, the WM is "better" because the throws are shorter, but there's a trade off. To produce a shorter throw, the pivot point (fulcrum) of the shift lever must be moved and in so doing changes the effort to move the lever. The shorter the throw, the less leverage - i.e. increases effort to move the shift lever. For many owners, the increased effort is bothersome. For others, it's fine. YMMV. However, Porsche synchros don't like to be rushed. A shift lever that moves the synchro assemblies faster than "normal" creates more wear (shortens synchro life). A driver that also shifts faster only exacerbates the situation. For these reasons, I recommend the more modest, but still noticeable, factory short shifter. Sherwood SeineSystems.com |
