New Guy...

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to spend a minute to say HI and introduce myself! I'm sure I'll be asking for expertise in the near future! I just picked up another Porsche, but this time it's a 911. I started out a couple of years ago in college with a 912 that I restored (mechanicals/paint and body), then I had a 944 Turbo, and now I have an '80 SC with a steel turbo kit.

Glad to be here!

I can tell I've got my work cut out for me....mechanically, the car is amazing. ...But there are a couple of electrical gremlins that need to be ironed out.

First off, the High Beam lights won't work. If I pull back on the switch (as to flash somebody) they work fine. If I have the low beams on, and i flip the switch forward to turn the high beams on, the lights go off. Fuses and relays are fine.

Also, the passenger door window won't go up or down. I had the door apart and I put 12 volts to the motor....worked when I did that. Also, checked the fuses and relays, and window switches, and they are all fine.

Let the fun begin!

Im from Indy! This car has kind of a neat history with one of the racing teams here...it was a "pet project/test mule" for a CART team. Everything on the engine is spotless and it looks like it's been built to aerospace or race team standards....

I thought that your plate said Indiana on it, but man, baby blue, on an Indiana plate... really

I am Hoosier by birth. Also graduated north of Indy from HS that is. Still have a lot family up there.

Haha...that plate is cheap insurance. It's the Indiana State Police Memorial plate. I had a DARE plate on my 944 Turbo, and that got me out of one ticket!

I'm originally from the Fort Wayne area...actually about 20 miles northwest.

Welcome!
Your problem #1 -- replace the turnsignal stalk; that is what I did and mine worked after that. I'm told it's a common thing

I figured the turn signal stalk was done with....at least the high beam wire in there is broken or fried.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll get some more pictures of the car tomorrow.
