Reintroduction..1987 911 to my new 1995 993

I found an early 1995 993 here in Ft. Collins and I could not pass it up. The car is a C2 Carrera Coupe, Guards Red/Cashmere with RSR Muffler, PSS9's, TRG Sways, ERP Monoballs with 62k miles. I am very pleased with the purchased and because the car has track experience and all the goodies for an excellent track set up I have signed up for my first AutoX this weekend.

The 1987 Carrera Coupe was shipped back to the east coast to the new owner and arrived today. I will miss the way the 87 drives and the plush new interior I put in it last year.

Here are a couple of photos:

Can you give us a ballpark on what you paid for it?

Looks great, and has a nice setup!

Jerry,

Well I will admit the 993 is a beauty, but honestly, I cannot believe you sold your 87. As much beautiful and details to the extreme kind of work you put into that thing, I would suspect part of your soul went away with that car. She was a true beauty!

So, when you going to put a wide body on the 993!

Yes, I paid 28K and spent 2.4K on a new windshield and brakes, rotors and caliper rebuild.
I think it was a great buy. It was an excellent track car, and my opinion is that Porsches ARE designed to be track cars, so that aspect does not bother me at all. The car is solid, smooth and clean. I put a new rear spoiler wall on it for $70 and I will begin to work on things like changing the wheels from the 17" cups to ???? and having the few small road rash spots airbrushed and a new clear bra put on the front. You know that I will detail it when the weather warms up, too!

V8, The 87 arrived in Virginia yesterday and the new owner probably picked it up today. I worried about it for two weeks as it left my care, but it is at it's new home and Tony will take great care of it. We are planning to travel back to visit Wash, DC this fall and I want to stop and meet Tony and his wife and see my baby....the car!
I WILL miss that 87 and I too can't believe I sold it, but this 1995, 993 came along and it was the right time and the right price from a PO that has been great to deal with here in town. He regrets selling the 993 (he won a lot of races with it) as I regret selling the 87...change is good, but not always easy.

Well, Jerry, make sure you plan a slightly southern route on the way there or back, and if we have not moved to Boulder yet, I will show you some sweet roads here in West Tennessee!

You get out here and I will show you some roads...curvy and straight! I took the 993 out today and gave her an "Italian Tune-Up" on a straight, wide and smooth road just north of here about 2 miles. I shut her down at 130 in 4th gear...smiled and went home!

Caution: don't try this at home...ever!

$30k???

That is ridiculously cheap by Swedish standards. Here a similar car would fetch between $45-50K. With the cheap dollar today, it may be worth importing. Have no idea what that would involve though.

The color is Marine Blau Metalic, not black as it appears. Porsche only produced around 500 of this color and it is unique. There are times it looks black, blue, dark purple blue, blue gray and even blue green. I really was not that thrilled with the color when I first got the car, but over time and seeing it in all kinds of light, I learned to appreciate it and even love the color. When we went on Porsche Tours, people always asked about the color.

I am the lucky guy that bought Jerry's car. I have been looking since May of last year, and when I saw it come up for sale (luckily checked it at work), I had to call. The color was exactly what I was looking for, and the new interior made the sale. Jerry was absolutely wonderful to deal with. I can't think of a better way to start my 911 experience!

I was going to wait until I got the car for the official "Pelican" intro, but Jerry let the cat out of the bag! Hello Pelican - I have been lurking for a while, but I finally have a car to post about!

I can't wait for my first mod - I wallet may never fell the same

Jerry, your "new" '95 looks great and I am a bit familiar with them since I had a '96 Tip Coupe.

But gosh..........that ole '86 with all that great exterior rubber moulding actually looks better to me than the 993!

I'm sure that the new owner will be more than happy with it.

Good luck with the 993.

Ted, Oh NO! That is a busy, dangerous highway! This County Road is just north of my house and there is never any traffic on it and the only reason I can figure that it is so wide and paved so perfectly is that one of the County Commissioners must live near it!
