71 Accelerator Springs
I have a 71 car and wondering about all the locations for the Accelerator return springs. I currently only have the 2 on the Webers. Shouldnt there be more, and if so , where?

My MFI car relies on the spring on the MFI injection pump throttle linkage. This is the return spring. There are a few more springs on the various shafts but they only take up play in the linkages. FWIW

my weber set-up uses just the springs on the carbs. don't think there's supposed to be more.

I couldn't find any springs on the parts diagrams other than the ones on the carbs. When I had my 914 race car which was running carbs, I installed a spring on the cross bar. This was my choice but it also was required by the various sanctioning body rule books. I encourage anyone to have a secondary spring. Long and soft, they won't add much to the pedal effort, but they will close the butterflies in case of some kind of failure to the primary springs. You must maintain the local springs in case the linkage becomes dislodged as mine did when I spun once at Willow Springs and took a rough ride. I'm glad the throttles closed after my pedal hit the floor. It was most likely a rock under the car which is why a spring down low on the bell crank is not to be trusted.
