Will two different size spacers work????

okay, don't shoot me...a fellow Pelican (he will remain nameless) sold me a pair of 1.5" spacers for the rear of my 911SC. Well, gee, I measure the things after unpacking and one is 1.25 and the other 1.5.

Upon contacting him, he said he never knew...they were used on his track car and he could tell the difference yadda yadda yadda...

So, my question (as dumb as it may be) is, will they work and if they will, is the .25 difference going to be noticable...or only to me?

Finances are tight at the moment and the last thing I need to do is drop more dough on spacers...when I need other parts I didn't get screwed on too!

i was talking to guy that makes spacers, he said he has different szes on his car. when i was checking to see what i need for my rear, (currently 1" with turbo flares), i found that to make the tires fit the same under the flares i would need different sizes. so measure the disatance from the fender lip to the rims on both sides, they may be what you need.

When the oil lines were replaced on my 86, the mechanic added an additional spacer of ~1-2mm on the right rear wheel to give clearance. I can't feel any difference. YMMV.

I've seen it, usually on race cars to get a particular wheel to fit. Can't say that I recommend it.

What it does is changes the scrub radius, this is far more imporatant on the steering wheels(front) than the back but it does change the characteristics of the way the car turns, left and right turns will no longer behave the same

That 1/4" difference could be a good thing. The fenders on these cars are usually not symmetrical, measure yours and use the different spacers to even things out.
That is what I have done on my car (95% street) for the past decade or so with no issues.

Have you fitted them on yet? Try both ways - maybe your car is asymmetrical too.

If that's no good, a local machine shop should be able to turn the 1.5" spacer down to 1.25" for a nominal amount (assuming they are the bolt-through type spacers, not the ones that incorporate another set of lug studs).

Unfortunately, they are the bolt-thru kind! So I will try fitment this weekend...I am assuming they will work and not be too noticable but we will see. Thanks for all the input...gives me a little hope.

My right side has 1/4" spacers, left side has none. So far so good including a track day.

Thanks for all the help but I am curious why exactly you would need them on one side and not on the other or why each car is slightly different, even though the models are the same and wheels may be identical..are these little cares THAT unique? (lol)

I have seen many cars (Include mine) with more gap on the right side, why don't you measure your car. If so, he is doing you a favor. You can put the thicker on there.
