Question R&R front sway, bushing how to?

On the later 911's with the sway that dose not go through the trunk, how do you remove the front sway bar, install new bushings, & replace?

Do you have to disconnect one of the front A-arms?

You don't have to remove an A arm, but it would probably help. Also, you might consider getting the Bently if you don't have one (it sounds like you don't - the R & R procedure is in there) as one of the things you'll need when you put it all back together are torque specs for all the bolts.

Also, try a search as there are a number of threads which have "tricks" to getting the front sway back in place.

i've done this, and i would suggest dropping one a-arm to make it a lot more painless...also watch how the bar goes back in, as i once put mine in upside down

So the attachment point on the arms is not removable.

Guessing:

Loosen lug nuts.
Jack up car.
Remove wheels,
Note any pre-load on torsion bar at adjusting arm.
Remove one A-arm from body. Let hang from strut.
Remove straight section from near steering rack.
Thread sway in or out of the other A-arm.

Watch the direction so I do not have to do it twice.

Rubber bushings have to be worked into place with effort.

Am I missing anything?

that is the jist...i used a big c-clamp and wood to get my new bushings in the a-arm..lube everything up with soapy water to help get them in place

i also painted my sway bar, but that adds some drying time if you are in a hurry.
